The fleshy body of this cactus has a column and has a whitish hairy surface that hides the sharp thorns. Flowering only occurs in older plants. The head of the old look better grouped with other similar plants in a garden of cactus.
They need a cool and sunny. It should be watered with a liquid fertilizer added to irrigation water, once a month from spring to mid-fall. Do not water during the winter rest period. The hairy surface can be washed with a mild detergent to keep it clean.
